It is the largest flying species in the world. It is a parrot native to Central and Eastern-South America. The bird is one metre long from the top of its head to the tip of its long-pointed tail. Its feathers are entirely blue. Its diet consists of nuts from specific palm species. Hyacinth Macaw has a very strong beak for eating nuts and seeds. It can live for 30-50 years. Macaws nest in hollows in trees high up from the ground from July to December. Hyacinth Macaw is one of the most colourful and attractive birds in the world.
